Up My Street is an ongoing project about the concepts of identity, mapping, collecting, the documentation of information and geographical and historical relationships and patterns. It began when on an everyday journey I chanced upon a sign for a road called Eleanor Street. I found it curious and unusual because my name is not particularly common and has various spellings. After doing some further research I found, to my surprise, that there are a significant number of streets in the UK which I share my name with. I have since been photographing Eleanor Street, or indeed Eleanor Road or Eleanor Close wherever I find them. The project has grown as I have researched my name, and the places I have found and documented the journeys that I have made. It is my intention to map and document these places and the relationships between them by various means with the possibility of extending the project in other ways.
