A comparison of colours used to denote subway lines across the maps of six metro systems: Berlin, London, Moscow, New York, Paris and Tokyo, in response to the brief set for the Information Design Elective as part my MA Graphic Design. In addition to the poster also produced for the project, a chart entitled Metrotone, designed using the visual language of a Pantone colour book, was also produced as a witty way of comparing the shades of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple used on each of the maps, complete with CMYK references for each of the colours. The chart allows the user to compare colours in a more flexible way, as shades within the same colour category can be closely compared across each of the metro systems, while colours across the same metro system can be viewed at the same time.
